Site Accessibility
We recently installed a free accessibility plugin to our site called Accessibility Light. It’s a free and easy to install WordPress plugin made by Sitelinx. We’re looking at how we can improve our online accessibility by utilising technology. While we know this plugin doesn’t solve all the problems, we wanted to share this plugin with you, as it neatly provides a number of accessibility features all in one place.
To the left of your screen, there should be a square blue badge containing a white icon of a person in a wheelchair. If you click the badge, a drop-down menu will appear offering the following accessibility features for the website:
- Disabled Flashes
- Mark Headings
- Background Color
- Zoom Out
- Zoom In
- Decrease Font
- Increase Font
- Readable Font
- Bright Contrast
- Dark Contrast
- Underline Links
- Mark Links
One click, and the changes are made not just for the page you are currently on, but for all the pages you visit on the site. Depending on your cookie preferences, it can also remember your access features on this site for up to 12 hours, so things should be as you prefer them if you decide to pop back later.
If you’ve found these features useful, or if there have been any issues with the plugin, we’d love to hear about it!
Where there is a will, there is a way.
